The Revitalization of Vocational Education through Dual Expertise Program

In an effort to prepare graduates or competent human resources that can synergizes with the world of industry especially to be able to compete with foreign workers, quality vocational education are the answer for those challenges. This can only be done by revitalizing the vocational education policy. One of government policy in the revitalization of vocational education is to improve of teachers competence and to increase the amount of teachers and education personnel in Vocational High School (SMK). To support that policy, The President has issued the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 9 of 2016 on the revitalization of Vocational High School (SMK) in order to Improve the Quality and Competitiveness of Indonesian Human Resources. The instructions are implemented through the Dual Expertise Program. This is a policy to increase the number of teachers with competence according to the standard of teaching specific areas of expertise in Vocational High School (SMK) or referred as productive subject teachers in Vocational High School (SMK). This effort is expected to answer the problem of the lack of productive teachers of SMK. This article is about Dual Expertise Program ranging from planning, implementation and evaluation.
