Revitalization of Vocational Education Through Dual Expertise Program

In an effort to prepare graduates or competent human resources that can synergizes with the world of industry especially to be able to compete with foreign workers, quality vocational education are the answer for those challenges. This can only be done by revitalizing the vocational education policy. One of government policy in the revitalization of vocational education is to improve of teachers competency and to increase the amount of teachers and education personel in Vocational High School (SMK). To support that policy, The President has issued the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 9 of 2016 on the revitalization of Vocational High School (SMK) in order to Improve the Quality and Competitiveness of Indonesian Human Resources. The instructions are implemented through the Dual Expertise Program. The research method used in writing this article is descriptive method of analysis by examining and analyzing all sources and data collected related to dual expertise program. The result of this program in 2016, a total of 12,827 teachers will continue the advanced stages of the dual expertise program by 2017. The impact of this program is expected to fullfil the needs of productive teachers in vocational high school.
